Ultrafine Titanium dioxide  / Ultrafine Zinc Oxide
It is widely known that every material generally enhances some of its characteristics and exhibits completely new properties when its particle size is fined. Due to its extremely small particle size, ultrafine titanium dioxide scatters light little. Accordingly, it is transparent and has excellent UV ray shielding effect, making this product highly useful for UV reflection sun screens and cosmetics. As a material for automobile top coat paints, catalyst carrier for automotive exhaust gas and toners, our ultrafine titanium dioxide is also widely noticed both in Japan and overseas markets.
ISK will continuously pursue fine particulate technologies associated with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide so that we will respond to future requirement, which rapidly changes with time, and create unique, highly value-added products.
High-Purity Titanium Dioxide
We have developed high-purity titanium dioxide as a material for multi-layer ceramic capacitors and other ceramic parts for electronic applications. ISK is only the company that has two different production processes of titanium dioxide in Japan. They are chloride process and sulfate process. From these processes, we produce different grades of high purity titanium dioxide with different purities and particle sizes, which suit for various applications and requirements.
Titanium dioxide for catalytic use
NOx removal catalysts are used to remove nitrogen oxides (NOx) from exhaust gas of thermal power plants, large capacity boilers, and other facilities. Owing to its excellent chemical stability, surface activity, and other beneficial properties, titanium dioxide is used as the carrier for these NOx removal catalysts. This group will continue to develop innovative, high performance catalyst carriers suitable for flue gas de-nitration and other applications.
Photocatalytic Titanium Dioxide
As a largest domestic titanium dioxide manufacturer, ISK has developed a wide variety of photocatalytic titanium dioxide. The photocatalytic market has grown recently mainly in outdoor and siding applications. We are developing visible light sensitized titanium dioxide with excellent photoactivity, and materials for outside coating for these applications by utilizing ISK's experienced particulate technology and characterization technology of ultrafine particles.
Nano-sheet
The nano-sheet is obtained by taking off a sheet of "host layer" one by one. Since the sheets have high shape-anisotropy with 1 nm in thickness and 100 nm in length, they exhibit unique characteristics, which can not be seen in bulk materials. The group is now researching titanium dioxide or other metal oxide nano-sheets. In addition, we are synthesizing new functional materials by arranging or accumulating the nano-sheets, and compounding with other materials.

Electro-conductive materials
With the advance of electronic equipment and devices that symbolizes the electronics society, advanced electro-conductive materials are required to prevent static electricity accumulation and electrification. To respond to such needs, ISK has developed white electro-conductive materials, which are based on titanium dioxide with surface treatment of antimony-doped tin oxide (ATO), and transparent electro-conductive materials, which are ultrafine ATO powder. Spherical and acicular-shaped products are respectively available for both white and transparent electro-conductive materials.
ISK is also developing new high-performance electro-conductive materials. In particular, we are introducing our creative ideas into the development of a plate-shaped electro-conductive materials and antimony-free electro-conductive materials in order to increase our product lineup and respond to increasing environmental regulations.
Metal Aqueous Colloid
It is widely known that metals like silver and copper generally exhibits various interesting properties, for example, decrease of melting point, unique absorption in visible light region, incurrence of selective catalytic reaction on their surface, and so on, because of enormous exposure of metal atoms onto their surface. By utilizing the synthetic and surface characterizing technology of ultra-fine particle of metal oxides, ISK has developed synthetic technology of metal nano-particle. The group is studying its application for catalyst, decoration and electronics.
