Sustainable Procurement

ISK (Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha, Ltd.) Group aims at socially responsible procurement activities through our business operations, in collaboration with suppliers and contractors, as specified in our Code of Conduct and Policy on Human Rights. We hereby adopt the Policy on Procurement in order to promote such socially responsible procurement activities.

ISK Group Policy on Procurement

  1. 1. Legal Compliance

    ISK Group complies with laws and regulations of each country and region and conducts procurement activities sensibly in accordance with social ethics.

  2. 2. Fair and Reasonable Transactions

    ISK Group provides opportunities openly to both domestic and overseas suppliers and contractors and is committed to fair transactions. ISK Group conducts reasonable procurement activities by considering multiple elements in a comprehensive manner, including quality, price competitiveness, supply stability and capacity for technological development.

  3. 3. Establishing Partnerships

    ISK Group strives to promote mutual understanding with suppliers and contractors and to strengthen partnerships by building relationships based on trust.
    ISK Group will take reasonable and appropriate steps to determine to the best of its knowledge that its suppliers and contractors practice the values espoused by ISK Group as set forth in the Appendix.

  4. 4. Promoting Social Responsibility

    ISK Group respects human right as a member of the international community and conducts procurement activities in consideration of various aspects of sustainability such as environment and safety.
    In addition, ISK Group will actively participate in international initiatives such as Responsible Care activities, management of conflict minerals (3TG, cobalt) and procurement of sustainable palm oil.

ISK Group will publicize initiatives concerning procurement activities pursuant to this Policy via ISK Group’s website and/or sustainability reports.

(Appendix)Request to suppliers and contractors for cooperation

Pursuant to this Policy, in order to promote socially responsible procurement activities, we encourage cooperation of suppliers and contractors concerning the following items. We will seek mutual prosperity by enhancing dialogue with suppliers and contractors for promoting understanding on these items.

  1. 1.
    Internal Control: Compliance with laws and regulations, strengthening governance to prevent fraud and corruptive practices, and appropriate disclosure of information.
  2. 2.
    Respect for Human Rights: Prohibition of all forms of discrimination and not to contribute to human rights violations.
  3. 3.
    Labor: Prohibition of forced labor or child labor, respect for right to organize and collective bargaining, and promotion of occupational safety and health.
  4. 4.
    Environment and Safety: Business activities that consider the environment, safety and security of local communities.
  5. 5.
    Climate Change: Reduction of GHG emissions to prevent global warming.
  6. 6.
    Product Quality and Customer Satisfaction: Improving customer satisfaction by implementing appropriate quality control and providing products and services based on such quality control.
  7. 7.
    Information Management: Prevention of leakage of personal and/or confidential information, and respect to privacy.
  8. 8.
    Business Continuity Plan: Preparing response to large-scale natural disasters, pandemics, and cyber attacks, etc.
